What is the most effective way to avoid insect stings in the desert?
I like 2-3 pods of bananas per day (natural repellent) and I have a lot of deep woods and over other products. I deep desert camping in July. My main concern is mosquitoes and ticks. I wonder if my dogs instead of tick repellent is safe or effective in humans. I will also be a network to add mosquto carring in my hand-made shelter. Any other suggestions?
I do several things to protect myself from insect bites, and the combination is most effective. but, in honesty, I do not think any method is 100% effective. I love garlic, so eat a lot of it! even in my walk in the woods or a walk along the Pacific Crest Trail. Wear long-sleeved shirts light-colored, with long pants and a hat. You can be much warmer, but errors song bite through clothing. I also carry with me a repellent called "Ben Formula Maximum of 100 ticks and insects" repellent. It is 98.11% DEET and sprayed all over my clothes. I use 50% or 25% in my skin. It lasts 10 hours and I do not apply it under my clothes. I have to pay about $ 6.00 for a bottle and get a local surplus store outdoors. Here is Information for insect repellent.
