Many people suffer from an allergy Sun Symptoms can be relatively mild, usually presents as a rash of minor importance which can be itchysome people called "prickly heat". However, others suffer various symptoms, which can affect the way they live their lives. Some people develop the hives that can blister and spread, even to areas not exposed to direct sunlight.

It is unclear what causes sun allergy and why some people react differently than others. Children and infants are particularly vulnerable; rash may occur that seem to cover an area forming a complete ring around the arms or legs. What starts out looking like an irritated mosquito or insect bite can quickly swell to proportions alarming.

In addition, a syndrome known as "drunken sun" that affects some children suffering from an allergy to sun. In some cases, a child can come to play outside and stumble, lose balance or show suggestions that something is not right, therefore, making the term "drunk". Many arrive with glazed eyes and sometimes fall asleep quickly. Once out of the sun, with the time to "recover" (sometimes as early as 30 minutes), no can be any lasting effect.

There are several types of conditions with the title of the allergy Sun

These include polymorphous light eruption (PMLE), actinic prurigo (hereditary PMLE), and photo allergic eruption. Solar urticaria is a rare sun allergy that generally affects women, produces large, itchy, red bumps or hives. Although it is a rare form of sun allergy, is far more common than might be thought.

PMLE is a sun allergy that produces itchy rash and is fairly common, and hereditary PMLE occurs in people with a history of American Indians. Photo allergic eruption is a sun allergy which sometimes takes a while for the diagnosis and occurs when sunlight has a reaction or a chemical in the body, such as sunscreen, pen sores, medicine, etc. It is important to know whether the medications you are taking may have an adverse reaction to the sun. If the question, ask your pharmacist.

To prevent or lessen symptoms of possible sun allergy, you must use a sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher. For children or others with solar urticaria is more advisable to use SPF 45 +. Also, sunscreen should be applied generously and often. If someone has a known allergy to the sun, sunscreen should be applied including around the lips.
