Mosquito Anopheles

Malaria is a mosquito-borne disease caused by a parasite, Plasmodium, which infects red blood cells. Infected mosquitoes has spread. People with malaria often experience fever, chills, and flu-like illness. Malaria is a leading cause of death worldwide. Approximately 300 million people around the world are affected by malaria and between 1 and 1.5 million people die each year, but is nearly eradicated in the United States. The disease is often a problem in countries Developing with warm climates. If you travel to these countries is at risk. People get malaria by being bitten by an infective female mosquito Anopheles.

Only Anopheles mosquitoes can transmit malaria and they have been infected through a blood meal before taken in a contaminated area is. When a mosquito bites an infected person, a small amount of blood is taken in which contains microscopic parasites. About 1 week later, when the mosquito takes its food blood to come, these parasites mix with the saliva of the mosquito and are injected into the person being bitten. Because the malaria parasite is found in the blood cells of an infected person, malaria can also be transmitted through blood transfusion, organ transplantation, or shared use of needles or syringes contaminated with blood.

Symptoms of malaria include fever, headache and vomiting. Malaria may reason anemia and jaundice (fair skin and eyes) due to loss of red blood cells. Malaria is not spread from person to person like a cold or flu, and can not be sexually transmitted. You can not get malaria from casual contact with people infected by malaria, such as sitting next to someone who has malaria. The treatment of malaria includes support measures, drugs and anti malaria accurate. Antimalarial drugs may be prescribed to people traveling to areas where malaria is prevalent.

The types of antimalarial drugs prescribed will be based drug-resistance patterns in the areas visited. Chloroquine is an anti-medication often used against malaria, but quinidine or quinine, or the merger of pyrimethamine and sulfadoxine, are given for infections resistant to chloroquine. People in the anti-malaria drugs can still be infected. Better safe than sorry. Avoid mosquito bites by wearing protective clothing on the arms and legs and using screens on windows. The use of bednets and insect repellents can decrease the likelihood of infection.
