Mosquito control when backpacking is not a minor issue. At one time, mosquitoes were a nuisance more than anything. If backpacker and camped in areas that had a lot of these insects annoying, you expect to be bothered. You expect to lose sleep even. But now the mosquitoes in many areas of the United States also carry diseases which are potentially fatal. You need to be prepared.

Mosquito control, then, is important, and it starts with a little planning before the trip. For example, bring the head of a mosquito net if you want to be in an area with lots of mosquitoes. 2. Use neutral colors. Mosquitoes seem to be attracted to blue and the contrasts of light and dark clothing. Stick to tan, light brown and beige color, as much as possible.

3. Cover your skin. Tuck pants into socks and wear long-sleeved shirts in the areas that have large numbers of mosquitoes. Usually, they will have difficulty biting through nylon materials that are tightly woven. Fishnet Avoid t-shirts and other easy to bite through shirts.

4. Camping in breezy places. Camping in areas experiencing a breeze and you'll have fewer problems with mosquitoes. The face of his tent in the wind and lets you avoid the insects inside when you go and down.

5. Calendar issues. Mosquitoes are most active at dawn and dusk, so avoid them by setting up camp before nightfall and leaving at dawn.

6. Keep it clean. Personal hygiene is an important part of mosquito control. Mosquitoes and other insects are attracted by the ammonia sweat and the smell of their feet. Wash regularly (in lakes and streams if necessary) and will attract fewer bugs.

7. Use of Fire. A small fire that produces a good amount of smoke will keep many insects away. Use some live branches of fir or pine trees to produce more strongly scented smoke.
