Why are there mosquitoes?
what is the purpose of mosquitoes in the land? have a job, in addition to feeding on humans? I'm allergic to pests around here and have developed a severe allergy to DEET. repels them just as good as done, so now I am limited on the ability out during certain times of day. Just wondering why mosquitoes exist at all. I hope someone knows! 
I know the bats and certain things feed on them, but there are a range of "purpose"? wondering what the rules are to keep a bat in your home. I'm stuck indoors for the best time of year.
They are actually rather low on the food chain. Some birds are particularly fond of mosquitoes. Swifts and swallows particular. Fish also enjoy them. In reality, is problematic to determine the specific purpose, some form of life is. Life is just sort of evolve. The swifts and swallows actually evolved because they were there to eat mosquitoes. Had they not been then the swifts and swallows, could not have evolved. On the other hand, if animals have no blood mosquitoes have not evolved. There are a lot of mosquitoes in the drier parts of Arizona. You might consider spending the summer there.
