The skin is our largest organ, and yet is that many of us forget to look as good as it should. We turn to fragrances, lotions and other beauty products containing an impressive amount of chemicals, many of which have been shown to cause cancer (such parabans for example). The best way to feed our skin is the same way that nourish the rest of our body - from the inside out, with fresh fruit and vegetables and plenty of good fats. There are several ways to feed your skin from the outside, also they are easy, cheap, and all individuals:
Council Planing: A wonderful way of detoxifying your body, ideal for your lymphatic system, nervous and circulatory systems, body dry brushing is best done once daily to three times per week, preferably before taking a bath or shower. Using a sponge or natural bristle brush, and start at your feet. Brush towards the heart in a circular motion for five minutes. After a few sessions you will notice a natural glow of skin, increased vitality and a sense of empowerment, especially if done in the morning.
Masks: Our skin loves good food. Some masks wonderful help to nourish the face:
For dry / sensitive skin: 1 / 2 mashed avocado and mixed with ground oatmeal. The fat in avocado nourishes the skin while the oatmeal is calm.
For oily skin: a blend of French green clay and strawberries or blueberries pulverized act to remove impurities from the skin while the astringent benefits much needed.
For normal skin: a pina colada for the face! crushed pineapple and banana wonders - pineapple acid exfoliates the skin while the banana and calm but tense.
Sea Salt Scrubs: These are another great exfolient for all skin types. Add a little almond oil to the salt keeps it soft and shiny. The salt helps to relax muscles and detoxify the skin. Add the herbs for the brush is great too - calming lavender, lemon or peppermint to invigorate and a pinch of pepper on a cold day to warm, rosemary or marigold flowers to heal rashes or other skin problems.
Bug Spray: As the focus of the summer, our thoughts turn to mosquitoes and how to prevent their nasty bites. Most repellents are literally terrible mistakes for you. Natural prevention is the best resource - taking 3 or 4 garlic capsules 100 mg of vitamin B1 to create a scent that repels mosquitoes and avoiding sugar and fruit juice, for which mosquitoes are naturally attracted can reduce victimization. Use --- of certain essential oils such as eucalyptus, lemon balm, pennyroyal, citronella, tea tree, geranium and also makes effective insecticides. Simply add a mixture of earlier in a water witch Hazel (3 parts water to 1 part witch hazel) and transferring the solution to a spray bottle. Several naturopaths say using these oils works and commercial mosquito repellent.
Bathrooms: Hot baths are very underestimated. It soften the skin, relax muscles and release tensions of the body, mind and emotions. And you can add all kinds of wonderful things for them - milk to soften skin, sea salt to ease muscle sore, herbal tea such as lavender, mint, rose petals, chamomile, lemongrass, orange peel to make sweet smelling and all natural.
