~ HELP! Is vitamin B-1, a good mosquito repellent?
The little vampire love chow on me when I visit Canada. Not only are doomed annoying, I am concerned about West Nile Virus as well. Someone told me that B-1, when taken in large doses, it actually helps to repel these little suckers. Does anyone have any personal evidence of this? What works for you? Also, what is the dispute with DEET? It is readily available in Canada, but I have a hard time finding in the U.S.. Is it harmful?
I met a National Geographic photographer who swore by it - it would take for a month before heading ....( some treacherous and, in his opinion, Alaska was the most dangerous mosquito knew I had ....) However - There is no evidence it works .... so I figure .... I gave it a shot - hey, do not bother with it again ... . I like to go walking around the lakes in hell (no kidding - pizza better world in the post office) and the mosquitoes are real heavy this time of year (which is hell name because it was built on a marsh, mosquitoes ....) so bad and I "No!" only normal use insect repellent spray - DEET, and is available in almost any drug or hardware store - see, it is all this hype about West Nile, but at least where I am, there are more cases of malaria in West Nile reality .... but never heard that, eh? And as I am concerned, tick-borne diseases are a far greater threat of West Nile Mosquito is a distanct ....( second ticks in North America) http://www.gorp.com/weekend-guide/travel-ta-tick-borne-diseases-in-north-america-Y sidwcmdev_053497.html DEET is the only one who knows deter ticks .... Now, the controversy about DEET is that it's a neurotoxin, and may have some unpleasant consequences if used in certain concentrations .... however, analysis of risks and benefits I'll take my chances with DEET on Tick-borne diseases. Have fun on your trip. Be well Tinker Bell
