Capt. Karty Sills has been a fishing guide on the Mosquito Lagoon since 1992. The manatee's closest relative is the elephant. The West Indian manatee is related to the African manatee West, the Amazonian manatee, the dugong, and Steller's cow, which was hunted to extinction in 1768.
